Claudia Hirn — somewhere between two adventures
This issue carried me
into foreign worlds.
Issue 03 swept me away like no issue before. It took me into worlds that were completely foreign to me — places on this earth I had never even heard of.
And yet one thing stays the same: everywhere, there are people trying to preserve what is old. People who feel it matters to keep their culture alive. Who don’t simply tear down old buildings — but don’t let them freeze into museums either. They live in them. Like at Daqingshu Inn in Nuodeng, at Rakkojae in Seoul, or in Oeam Folk Village. That deep respect for their own history and culture is, to me, something truly special.
Jyrgalan, too, is a wonderfully beautiful story: how two people, starting from nothing and together with the whole village, built a destination no one had believed in before.
Sit back and let yourself be carried into foreign worlds.
These are the stories I make this magazine for. I want to give these people a chance to be seen. They are exactly the places I want to travel to myself — and that is why they get a voice in my magazine.
